After growing up in Western Washington, Dr. Erik Walker completed both his B.S. in Animal Sciences and Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at WSU in Pullman. While in school, Erik further pursued his interest in animal care and welfare through participating in multiple research projects studying how to enrich the environment of pigs and grizzly bears. These projects inspired him to then join a virology lab and investigate the conditions for viral entry of herpes. In his spare time, Erik enjoys the outdoors by hiking the Pacific Northwest’s beautiful trails and by pulling weeds from his garden, weather permitting. Erik has two loud cats, Sophia and Rumpus; and a spunky ferret, Pascal.
